About the Artist

Andrew Kaminski (b. 1989) creates art under the guiding principles of freedom, compassion, and openness.

His mediums are Prismacolor pencils drawings on paper, Golden Acrylic paint on canvas, and digital collage. Kaminski also used video projection to create a light show on Julliard dancers during live performances of the Harlem Arts Festival.

Kaminski received his MFA from the City College of New York (2014). He received his BFA in drawing and painting from SUNY New Paltz (2012). Upon the writing of this, Andrew is pursuing his MSW at U Albany.

Thematically, his artwork is inspired by kundalini awakening experiences, described by Baba Muktananda. Aesthetically, his artwork is inspired by the vibrant colors of Vincent Van Gogh's oil paintings, along with the visionary art of Alex Grey. He is inspired by the activism in art spaces of Nan Goldin that protested the pharmaceutical industry. He also draws inspiration from David Wajnorowicz, in his advocacy work for people with AIDS.
